On Friday, 5th December 2025, the Ayensuano District Assembly marked the 41st National Farmers Day celebration under the theme “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future” at the Teacher Mante Presby D/A JHS School Park. The event was successful and well attended by distinguished personalities, including the District Chief Executive, Hon. Joshua Frederick Yaw Lartey, the Coordinating Director, Heads of Departments and Units, traditional leaders such as chiefs and queen mothers, as well as heads of the security agencies.
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Joshua Frederick Yaw Lartey expressed his joy in joining farmers at Teacher Mante to celebrate Farmers Day in Ayensuano in line with the national theme “Eat Ghana, Grow Ghana, Secure the Future.” He proudly acknowledged and commended the dedication, skills, and sacrifices of farmers whose hard work in crop cultivation and livestock rearing continues to sustain the nation.
He emphasized that the celebration went beyond ceremony, noting that he conveyed the appreciation of the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, to all farmers and agricultural workers present. According to him, their efforts form the foundation of food security and rural development within the district.
Hon. Lartey further highlighted that the government, through the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and its allied agencies, has rolled out several initiatives to support farmers and strengthen the agricultural sector. These include the Nkoko Nkitinkiti programme, the Feed Ghana initiative, and support for youth agricultural start-ups. These interventions aim to boost production, enhance resilience, and add value to farm produce from production to market. He stressed that achieving these goals requires strong partnerships between the national government, which provides policy direction, and the district administration, which ensures effective implementation at the grassroots level.
At the climax of the celebration, the Overall Best Farmer award was presented to Fijemaz Modom Ventures. The winner received a tricycle, four bottles of insecticides, one box of weedicides, one bag of NPK fertilizer, three cutlasses, two pairs of Wellington boots, half a piece of GTP cloth, a knapsack sprayer, and a certificate. The awardee encouraged the public, especially the youth, to venture into farming, describing agriculture as a key pillar of national development, shared prosperity, and future food security.
